Bainbridge blotter | Teenagers in trouble

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, JULY 29

8:38 a.m. Police responded to a report of a forged check and theft from a NE Baker Hill Road home. A 69-year-old Bainbridge Island man told the police his wife is disabled and has a woman who stays at home to take care of her.

The woman, 46, of Bremerton, took a blank check from a drawer in his home and wrote it out to herself for $366. She then forged his signature and cashed the check without the man’s knowledge or consent.

He found out when his accountant noticed it. He confronted the woman, who first denied it but eventually admitted to the theft.

The man then fired her. She left her car at his residence and emailed him saying she would be over soon to retrieve it. The man planned to coordinate a time for her to come get the vehicle so that police contact could be made with her.

12 p.m. A Toyota Prius driven by a 51-year-old Bainbridge Island woman was parked on the north side of the parking lot near the Subway restaurant off of Hildebrand Lane.

Right behind her, a Subaru Outback driven by an 18-year-old Bainbridge Island woman was parked on the south side.

Both cars backed out at roughly the same time. Neither driver saw the other, and the two collided in the center of the lane, causing damage to the rear right of both cars.

THURSDAY, JULY 28

3:24 p.m. A bright pink Fitbit bracelet was wrapped around the handle of the front door to the police department. Finder and owner are both unknown. It was placed in the vault for safekeeping.
