U.S. Trade Policy is the next topic at Great Decisions at the Library at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1.
The program will be moderated by Bill Stafford, founder and former president of the Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle.
America’s foreign policy tools are not limited to sanctions, treaties or military campaigns, they also include the sales pitch. The logic behind this pitch, or “economic statecraft,” is simple: promote the benefits of democracy and the free market. In so doing, the U.S. will gain valuable and stable partners, both in business and in diplomacy.
Now, as China and other emerging nations battle the U.S. for global influence, Secretary Kerry is taking the reigns as a free market matchmaker.
Great Decisions is sponsored by Kitsap Regional Library with support from the Arts and Humanities Council and the Bainbridge Island Friends of the Library.
The venue may change; see www.bainbridgepubliclibrary.org for details.
