The Bainbridge woman hit by a car while walking with her grandchildren last week on Harborview Drive Southeast has died from her injuries, the Washington State Patrol reported late Monday night.
Katherine E. Dunn, 71, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after she was hit by a 2002 Lexus LS4 that was driven by a 91-year-old Bainbridge Island man who was backing out of a carport at a condominium complex near the Bainbridge ferry terminal.
Dunn was trapped under the vehicle and was later freed by Bainbridge firefighters called to the scene.
The Washington State Patrol said the accident is still under investigation.
Dunn was a retired Bainbridge kindergarten teacher and good government activist. Most recently, she has been a member of the city’s Civil Service Commission.
