Drop lawsuit, submit to binding arbitration | Letters | July 31

I agree with essentially every point that Roger Lauen made in his July 24 letter (“It’s best for community for lawsuit to disappear”).

The lawsuit initiated by the RPA against our city is serving no purpose beyond making it impossible for the city to do what needs to be done to protect the health and welfare of its citizens.

As Roger stated, actual costs will never be lower, but our window of low contractor rates, favorable bonding and, incidentally, important monetary grants, is fast disappearing.

Perhaps the RPA folks’ primary purpose is to close out the much-needed opportunity to fix what badly needs fixing. If so, they are ignoring the needs of the greater community in favor of their personal interests.

The RPA should drop the suit and submit to binding arbitration. I am sure that compromises can be found to accommodate everyone.
