Store manager steals over $43,000

A 41-year-old woman from Port Orchard was in Superior Court June 16 charged with embezzling over $43,000 from the store where she worked as manager.

She faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for first-degree theft. Bail was $55,000.

Court documents show that Kitsap deputies arrested the woman June 13 at 2:07 p.m. in the 9300 block of Silverdale Way at Harbor Freight.

One of her duties as manager was to deposit daily cash into a sealed envelope in the store safe to be later picked up by an armored car company and deposited into a bank.

From March to June she intermittently stole cash from the envelope. She took over $43,260 over 33 occasions. Six people handle such deposits, and her’s were the only ones that didn’t add up. When she took money, she hid so security cameras couldn’t pick it up.

Suspect tazed after threat to kill

A 39-year-old man from Port Orchard was in Superior Court June 16 after threatening to kill his girlfriend.

He faces five years in prison and a $10,000 fine for the threat and a year in jail and another $5,000 in fines for assault.

Court documents say the man was arrested June 13 at 1:08 p.m. by Kitsap deputies at Wisteria Lane NE in Bremerton.

On June 5 the girlfriend called 911 to report the threat that led to her kicking him out of the apartment, which they had share for a month, along with her 12-year-old daughter. The suspect has a criminal record and is active with the Department of Corrections.

On June 6, the couple was back together, but he picked up another woman who assaulted the girlfriend. He said they were all going to live together and, “It was going to be beautiful.” They got into another argument and a neighbor was punched after he tried to help.

On June 7 the suspect sent the girlfriend harassing text messages, threatening to break the windows and kick the doors down in her apartment.

On June 8 the suspect ran off into the woods when stopped for a traffic violation. He resisted arrest and was tasered to be taken into custody.

Man arrested after woman hurt in crash

A 41-year-old man from Silverdale was in Superior Court June 16 charged with vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated.

He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Court records show Kitsap deputies arrested the man June 14 at 10:09 p.m. on a bridge just south of Brownsville Highway NE and Illahee Road NE near Bremerton. A vehicle had veered into the opposite lane in a head-on collision. About five people were standing by while a woman was screaming in pain in one car. She was taken to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale with a rib fracture.

The car’s driver said he had not been drinking. But he did not do well on field sobriety tests, following over and having directions told to him multiple times. A sergeant with expertise in the area said the suspect was under the influence of stimulants, narcotics and cannabis.

Man strangles fiancée until she screams

A 28-year-old Silverdale man was in Superior Court June 16 after trying to strangle his fiancée.

He faces 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Court papers say Kitsap deputies arrested the man June 14 at 2:11 a.m. in Silverdale.

The victim said his partner of three years pushed her into a doorway, where she hit her head. He then grabbed her by the neck and “shook” her back and forth. She screamed so he let go.
