To the editor:

As a shoreline property owner, I strongly support Val Tollefson for city council.

I am concerned about the health of Puget Sound waters and the near shore environment and believe that Val’s position that a balance between private property rights and the public good is essential for the continued well-being of all who live in, on or near Puget Sound water – and that includes all of us on Bainbridge.

Val brings years of experience contributing to the Bainbridge community by serving in leadership roles in many local organizations, recently the Bainbridge Island Library Board of Trustees and the Bainbridge Island Land Trust board.

He has a proven record of helping organizations find compromise on contentious issues in order to make decisions and he clearly understands the division between board and staff roles and responsibilities.

I urge your support for Val Tollefson.
