The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office has arrested the suspect in a hit-and-run collision in Hansville early Sept. 19 that left a male cyclist critically injured.

The suspect is a 54-year-old man from Hansville who surrendered to deputies at KCSO’s Kingston office, the department’s Facebook post states. He was booked into Kitsap County Jail on charges of felony hit and run.

The cyclist was southbound on Hansville Rd. NE just south of Little Boston Rd. at about 5:10 a.m. when he was hit. 911 was called at 5:36 a.m. when someone driving by spotted the victim alongside the road. It was not known the man had been struck by a vehicle until deputies arrived on the scene. The cyclist was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment.

Deputies identified the car involved in the hit-and-run as a 2013-2020 Ford Fusion. That identification is based on a right passenger-side mirror found at the scene. It is black in color but was a replacement mirror that may not have been painted to match the vehicle, per KCSO.
