The Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation sponsored a Labor Day community picnic at Moritani Preserve to benefit the restoration and stewardship of it.

Attendees sat on lawn chairs and hay bales, dined on gourmet, Mediterranean-style picnic box meals and enjoyed traditional Cajun Creole music performed by the WHOZYAMAMA band during the end-of-summer family celebration. Children climbed trees, built a fort with sticks, and ran around the forest while neighbors chatted, danced and relaxed on the warm Sept. 4 evening.

The band sang french vocals and played the accordion, fiddles, rub board and electric guitar.

Island caterer Fig & Spice provided the meals, with proceeds benefiting Moritani Preserve located at 542 Winslow Way W. in the heart of Winslow.
