We need leadership on affordable housing | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

We appreciate that rather than focusing on any particular issue facing the Suzuki project, Sarah Blossom stepped back and called attention to the city council’s inability to make a meaningful contribution to affordable housing over many years.

As our Island residents have become more prosperous, it has simultaneously been harder for those who work here to live here. The council needs to accept its responsibility and take a leading role in fostering and providing affordable housing for all who would be part of our community.
