Eric Peterson turns toward the sound of the crack of a bat while setting up a tailgate barbecue Saturday in the parking lot of the Sands Avenue Ballfield.

Peterson was cooking a grill full of foot-long hot dogs for the break in the doubleheader between the Bainbridge Spartans C Team and the Gig Harbor Tides C Team.

Saturday was opening day for both baseball teams.
