To the editor:
Once again, The Traveler, has made a generous donation to the Bainbridge Ometepe Sister Islands Association Library Program.
Every year from the founding of their business in 1995, Susan Taylor and Barbara Tolliver, the owners, have donated 5 percent of their December gross receipts. This money is used to help purchase books for schools on Ometepe, Bainbridge’s Sister Island situated in the southern part of Lake Nicaragua. These books are a welcome gift to the communities and they deepen the relationship that has been built between our two islands since 1986.
On Feb. 18, a delegation of eight of us will be going to Ometepe to deliver books and visit teachers and students in the 43 island schools.
Here on Bainbridge Island, we are very lucky to have small businesses that support the community in many important ways. Our many thanks to The Traveler!
