To the editor:
Our volunteer team would like to thank everyone who helped make our recent Bainbridge Island fundraiser for Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center (KIAC) a resounding success.
The generosity and passion Bainbridge demonstrated for this local, grassroots agency will make an immediate difference in the lives of our immigrant neighbors who urgently need KIAC’s legal and family services.
KIAC is the only nonprofit immigration assistance agency west of Puget Sound and operates out of offices in Bremerton. Staff and volunteers provide legal, medical, dental, housing and financial services as well as free citizenship and “Know Your Rights” classes.
KIAC currently has more than 600 open legal cases, including deportation issues that involve children.
For more information about KIAC, go to www.kitsapiac.org and watch for more local events in support of the agency’s services.
