To the editor:
The new health care bill rolls back expanded Medicaid (aka Apple care here) and allows states to have plans without essential health care benefits including maternity care, diabetes and mental health — worse than the previous bill, which would throw 24 million off plans.
They call the press MSM (mainstream media) and disregard them — as if thousands of news outlets are working together against them. Losing the idea of the press’ integrity is an effective way that people lose firm knowledge of what is going on, which hands all of the power to the federal government. They are also challenging net neutrality, aiming to restrict our access to information.
Their “truth”: They have pulled public legislative and administrative data and sites offline to protect themselves; the EPA site, the MacArthur healthcare amendment, and Wikipedia’s entry on Leiberman’s ties to Trump, amongst others. Trump has openly said that it’s OK for him to lie because “people agree with me.”
They have attacked diverse families with the Muslim bans and cruel deportations, and rhetoric about them being criminals and racists. They have removed environmental protections — endangering our water, land and air. Trump is making money from the presidency; the next step is to set up a tax code which will benefit him.
Enough! I contact and visit members of Congress, and spread word about how to effectively resist, following the national group www.IndivisibleGuide.com. Join a group, and do as much or as little as you want. Don’t let this stand.
