Waterfront Park makeover to be finished soon

The major makeover of Waterfront Park will likely not wrap up in October.

Mark Epstein, the city’s manager for the project, said this week that construction should be substantially complete by early December.

“At this point opening the park in October looks overly optimistic,” he said.

Work got underway on the renovations in June, and the city council awarded the $1.6 million construction contract for the project in May to Bainbridge-based Redside Construction.

The project includes new pathways, terraces, seating areas and more.
