ID of body found on beach pending

The investigation into the body that washed ashore in Eagle Harbor last week is ongoing, Kitsap County Coroner Greg Sandstrom said recently.

The body has not yet been identified and the investigation remains active.

Sandstrom said his office was working with the Auburn and Bainbridge Island police departments on the case, but said it may be weeks before much more is known.

Bainbridge Island Police Chief Matthew Hamner said information would be released as it becomes available.

The body was discovered by an islander walking along the beach just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30.
