The 2016 Bainbridge Island Rotary auction and rummage sale raked in a record-breaking $556,869, according to Rotary spokesman Tom McCloskey.
The achievement was announced at the volunteer celebration picnic on Sunday before being announced publicly early Monday.
This year’s success outstepped last year’s previously record-breaking $480,099 by 16 percent.
“The Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island thanks the community – everyone who donated items, more than 1,500 volunteers who helped us put on the event and all the shoppers who bought the thousands of donated items for making these results possible,” said event spokesman John Spuller.
“It was a record year all around,” he said. “The Rotary Club appreciates the trust the community puts in us. We will be good stewards of these funds to the benefit of our local and international communities.”
