Bainbridge city hall looking for volunteers

The city of Bainbridge Island is looking for community volunteers to serve on citizen advisory groups.
Openings are available on the Design Review Board, Environmental Technical Advisory Committee, Ethics Board, Historic Preservation Commission, Non-Motorized Transportation Advisory Committee and the Utility Advisory Committee.
Volunteers commit to serving a three-year term and can serve up to two terms total.
Applications for these positions are due by midnight, Monday, May 31 and can be found online at www.wa-bainbridgeisland.civicplus.com.
The Design Review Board Makes recommendations to the Planning Commission and the Department of Planning and Community Development on commercial, mixed-use land and Housing Design Demonstration Project applications, and also changes, amendments and/or additions to the design guidelines.
The board has three openings.
The Environmental Technical Advisory Committee, which has five openings, provides technical and scientific advice to the city on environmental management issues and projects.
The Ethics Board helps to ensure that city government adheres to the highest standards of public service for elected officials and promotes an understanding of ethical principles and standards for all those involved with the city. There is one opening on the board.
Four positions are available on the Historic Preservation Commission, which sets process and standards for identifying, evaluating and protecting historic resources with the city, and encourages the preservation and restoration of historic properties through a special valuation tax incentive.
The Non-Motorized Transportation Advisory Committee is looking for three new members.
The Utility Advisory Committee is recruiting for three members to help guide the operation and management of the city’s water, sanitary sewer, storm water and other utilities.
An interview process will commence shortly after the May 31 application deadline, with most terms beginning in July 2016.
