Residents of Azalea Avenue can expect to be without water all day Monday, May 23, the city of Bainbridge Island has announced.
The water shutoff will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is needed so the new water main can be connected to the existing system.
City officials are advising residents to draw water Sunday evening for Monday’s outage, and say a stored 5-gallon container of water can be used to flush the toilet.
During and after this construction, customers in the Wing Point area may also experience discolored water and pressure fluctuations.
Officials said the water discoloration is the result of harmless sediments that are stirred up by the change in water flow direction.
If residents experience low water pressure or discolored water, they are being advised to wait until the scheduled outage is over and then to run their cold water until it is clear.
Residents along Wing Point Way can expect more shut-off notices as the new water main is connected to other sections of the existing system and individual residences are reconnected.
