Bainbridge blotter | Shady home sale attempt blamed on tough divorce

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, MAY 6

2:24 p.m. A 37-year-old-old Bainbridge Island woman reported that somebody had listed her home as being for sale on several websites.

She had been unaware of the listings, until she received a call from an agent asking if her home was still for sale.

She also said her mother had told her that friends had been saying that house was listed as for sale online.

The woman contacted one site, “Zillow,” and told them her home was not for sale and asked who had placed the listing. She was told that information could not be given out, but that the listing would be removed and the false report noted.

The woman said she was going through “a tough divorce,” and suspected her estranged husband of placing the fake listings.

Police told her that what had so far occurred did not technically constitute a crime.

TUESDAY, MAY 3

2:38 p.m. A 64-year-old Georgia woman, in town visiting her daughter, contacted police to report the possible abuse and molestation of her three grandchildren — all 12 or younger.

She said she had witnessed odd behavior by the two older children, and she believed they were possibly being molested by their father.

Police advised the woman to have her daughter contact them, and for her to apply for a protection order.

The woman said her daughter had been thinking of leaving her husband. A records search indicated that the children’s odd behavior had been reported by the mother previously to CPS, who declined to interview her as no allegation of sexual assault or abuse had been made.
