Toastmasters polished their speaking skills at a recent improv session sponsored by the U Speak Easy Club.

Improv coaches Bill Thomas and Michael Schmitt came from Port Angeles to lead local Toastmasters through an evening of acting out and laughter.

The event gave members a chance to act out various scenarios posed for them by Schmitt and Thomas. Held Feb. 24 at Huney Hall, it was attended by 25 Toastmasters and guests.

“Toastmasters helps members get rid of inhibitions whether the occasion is social or business. It enables people to speak on their feet,” said Tom Leurquin, U Speak Easy president.

U Speak Easy meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month, 7:15 to 8:30 p.m., at the Winslow Arms Apartments clubhouse, 220 Parfitt Way SW. Get more info at www.uspeakeasy.com.

A second club, Bainbridge Island Toastmasters, meets in the Winslow Arms clubhouse on the first and third Thursdays, from noon to 1 p.m.
