Bainbridge High School’s Jazz Band I, directed by Chris Thomas, competed in the Viking Jazz Festival hosted by North Kitsap High School last Friday, Jan. 29, and came home with honors.

For the second consecutive year, the band made finals in the 3A/4A division and won a third-place trophy. Meadowdale High School won first place, and Stadium High School took second.

Two BHS students, Henry Brown (alto saxophone) and Taylor Lhamon (tenor saxophone), received Outstanding Soloist awards.

The band next performs at a Community Swing Dance at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26  in the BHS Commons.

The all-ages event features both jazz bands and includes dance instruction by Sheila Phillips. Tickets are available at www.bainbridgebands.org.
