Ratification of BIESPA union contract pushed back

A new contract for classified employees of the Bainbridge Island School District was not up for approval at Thursday’s board meeting as earlier expected.

Mike McCloud, president of the Bainbridge Island Education Support Professional Association, said updating the contract according to the terms of the mutual agreement reached on Jan. 19 has been a lengthier process than expected, and the ratification meeting for the new contract has been pushed back to early February.

McCloud hopes to present the contract to the school board at its Thursday, Feb. 11 meeting instead.
