Bainbridge blotter | Flip-flop beer bandit

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 22

12:53 p.m. A blue portable generator was stolen from a back patio in the 3400 block of Point White Drive NE. The owner said it was very heavy and two people would have needed to carry it up a steep flight of stairs to the road.

1:43 p.m. A 22-year-old woman from Scappoose, Oregon was driving on North Madison Avenue in a 2015 Chevrolet and started turning left onto Valley Road when she cut the corner too close and hit a 55-year-old man in a 2003 Jaguar that was waiting at the stop sign.

The Chevy sustained front-end damage and was inoperable.

The Jaguar also received front-end damage and was towed.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 18

9:20 p.m. A 28-year-old man on Reitan Road told police a hypodermic needle had been found by his garage.

He said his wife found the needle next to their trash cans.

An officer determined the needled appeared to have been used to inject heroin. The couple was very concerned because they live in a remote area with not much foot or vehicle traffic.

MONDAY, SEPT. 14

4:49 p.m. A 59-year-old Bainbridge man in the 8400 block of Hansen Road NE told police his house had been egged. He found a container for a five-dozen pack of Lucerne eggs outside.

An officer said police would check with Safeway to see if a five-dozen egg pack had been recently sold.
