Keep the ferry on the Bainbridge logo | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:
Hello Bainbridge Island officials – the city logo is a no-brainer. To paraphrase James Carville, Bill Clintons campaign manager, “It’s the ferry, stupid.”
Without the ferry Bainbridge would be a backwater with 5,000 residents at most. The ferry connects us islanders to the jobs and cultural amenities of Seattle, but allows us to live in a rural, safe small town. We get the best of both worlds.
The Seattle-Bainbridge ferry is the busiest in the state. It’s the reason I moved to the island. I worked in Seattle, commuted stress free and lived in neighborly Winslow.
I assume one of the purposes of a town logo is to try to market Bainbridge Island to tourists and those who don’t know about our island. A ferry logo would tell them not only who we are but how to get there.
So forget the eastern consultants and their battle axes, put a ferry on the town logo and mail me the $22,545 consultant fee.
