The Bainbridge High teacher who was suspended in late February after being accused of inappropriate conduct with a student has been paid more than $7,000 since being placed on administrative leave.
According to the Bainbridge Island School District, the teacher — who has been under investigation by the Bainbridge Island Police Department for the past 11 weeks — has been paid $7,028 through last week.
Bainbridge High and school district officials announced on Feb. 25 that administrators from the high school had contacted the police department and asked the department to investigate allegations that a teacher had “inappropriate conduct” with a student at BHS. School officials said administrators had been told of the allegations the previous afternoon.
The school district and police department have remained silent about the allegations and have not released any additional details about the alleged inappropriate conduct. A crime log sent by the police department to local media shortly after the investigation got underway, however, labeled the incident as “sexual misconduct” with a minor.
Bainbridge Island Police Chief Matthew Hamner has said previously that new information on the allegations will not be released until the investigation is complete.
