Cartoon calls out 47 who signed letter to Iran | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

Loved the political cartoon from March 13, portraying the 47 Republicans who signed the letter to Iran, as out of control bigoted Oklahoma SAE frat boys. The best I’ve seen in years.

These 47 violated the traditional role that the president is in charge of foreign affairs and totally ignored the fact we are negotiating with Iran along with allies like Germany, France and Great Britain.

Supposedly their alternative to a negotiated treaty is to immediately impose stricter sanctions. Sanctions imposed by the U.S. alone will have little effect unless they are also imposed by these same allies and Russia. By not pursuing talks with Iran we can guarantee their non-cooperation.

If, in the end, the talks fail, it also gives Iran the perfect internal excuse by blaming these 47 dunces.
