Public records lawsuit could have been settled earlier, cheaper | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:

I just returned to Bainbridge Island from overseas and, thanks to BNB, I acquired a queen mattress for my guest room. The problem, for a single person, is how to get it home and upstairs. With newly installed wood floors, dragging was not an option, even if it was feasible.

While there are times when both our schools and our youngsters are disparaged in public comment there is much to be proud of and thankful for in both. In this case, public thanks go to Aidan Carlisle, Sam Wysong, Cole Shard, Casey Bring at Bainbridge High School. At the behest of Andy Grimm and Flo Fergeson, they came right after school, carried the mattress from the basement garage and up a narrow winding staircase, without dragging or scraping. Now my granddaughters have a place to sleep when they come to visit.

They were four fine gracious and strong young men. This community and their parents have raised them well and BHS provided a community service to a former colleague.

Thanks very much, Bainbridge. It is a good place to be.
