Hansen extends lead in 23rd District race

Rep. Drew Hansen put more distance between himself and Republican challenger James M. Olsen in the race for the 23rd District, Position 2 seat in the state House of Representatives after additional votes were counted Thursday.
The Kitsap County Election Division released an updated vote tally late Thursday.
Hansen, a Bainbridge Island Democrat, now leads in the race by 10,673 votes.
In the second vote count on Wednesday, Hansen was in front by 7,822 votes.
Hansen now has 62.9 percent of the vote in the rematch race. Olsen has 36.9 percent.
It’s the second attempt by Olsen at unseating Hansen.
In the 2012 race for the seat, Hansen collected 60 percent of the vote while Olsen had 39.7 percent.
