True crime author Larry M. Edwards will make an appearance to discuss his latest book “Dare I Call it Murder?”, which details the unresolved death of his parents in 1977, at Eagle Harbor Book Company in downtown Winslow at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.

In 1977, Loren and Joanne Edwards left Puget Sound aboard their 53-foot sailboat Spellbound, destined for French Polynesia, six months later they lay dead aboard their boat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with their 20-year-old daughter left unconscious and bleeding from head wounds.

The FBI named Edward’s younger brother as the prime suspect in its murder investigation, but he was never indicted and the case was left unsolved.

In “Dare I Call it Murder?”, Edwards deciphers a maze of contradictory witness statements and ferrets out new facts to get at the truth of his parents’ deaths. He also unveils to readers the devastating impact the tragedy had on the survivors, not only at the time but even 30 years later.

Edwards is an award-winning investigative journalist and author of three books.
