The results are in and it looks like ’13 is Bainbridge Island Rotary’s lucky number.

The island’s Rotary Club announced it took in nearly $444,000 from its 2013 auction and rummage sale, Sunday.

“(That’s) $443,326.09 to be exact,” said Marisa Lanning with the Rotary. “It looks like expenses will be close to last year so there will be a fair amount that will be able to go back into the community in the form of grants and donations.”

The 2013 numbers are an impressive improvement over last year’s auction. In fact, 2012 saw $385,856 from the sale. That’s an increase of $57,470.

The auction and rummage sale is the primary fundraiser for the Rotary. The money is used to fund the Rotary activities such as international work, and local grants and scholarships.
