Inspired by Builders’ Club members — the middle school branch of the Kiwanis organization — students, staff and administrators at Woodward Middle School donated more than 100 “Kits for Kids” on Dec. 5. The goody bags will be distributed by the Continuum of Care Coalition’s Project Connect, which distributes goods and services to the homeless and low income families every year in Kitsap County.

The focus this year was elementary children, and the kits contain items that will help with homework, as well as bring a little joy to a child going through a rough time.

The giving effort was just the latest good deed by students at the school.

In October, Woodward students donated $585 to UNICEF via collection boxes on Halloween. The funds will go to Project Eliminate, with the goal of eliminating tetanus worldwide.
