The Bainbridge Island Watershed Council and the city of Bainbridge Island are looking for people to help monitor for returning adult salmon this fall.

This is the eighth year of the monitoring program. Volunteers walk along sections of island streams once a week from early October to mid-December. Each volunteer and two teammates are assigned a section of one stream. At least two team members go out each week.

Volunteers need to be at least 14 years old and capable of walking a mile over uneven and sometimes wet terrain.

A training session, required except for recent volunteers, is 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27. Details will be provided to those who express interest by emailing info@biwatershedcouncil.org; include your name, email, phone number, and a confirmation that you are at least 14 years old.
