Difficult to leave behind island’s music scene | Letters | March 25

The concert at Bainbridge Performing Arts on March 27 will be the last in the series that I have produced during the last 12 years.

As I step back into an advisory role I wish to thank the many members of our community who have made these years of beautiful music possible.

First in line comes Darden Burns, whose wonderful concerts introduced the classical chamber-music repertoire to our community.

Then come the musicians – singers, violinists, violists, cellists and bass, woodwind and brass players. They are too numerous to name, but they know who they are.

We all are also grateful to all the BPA staff members – including especially Joanne Ellis, Dominique Cantwell, Steven Fogell, Sally Jo Martine and Deirdre and Matt Hadlock – without whom no concerts would have been possible.

Last but not least, I want to thank Dick Daniel, John Ellis, Omie Kerr, Chris Snow and all of the other BPA board members and patrons who have loyally supported the classical music program at BPA over the years.

The program on March 27 presents music of Bach, Mozart and Brahms. It starts at 3 p.m. We hope to see you there.
