City, neighbors help clean up storm debris

Published 3:20 pm Thursday, February 24, 2011

People on Bainbridge Island continue to be supportive of each other.
On Feb. 14 around 5 p.m. a major wind storm sailed through Bainbridge Island, knocking over trees and in other cases large branches.
Two very tall trees on the edge of our lane were knocked over that evening, falling across the road at peak traffic time.
I want to take this opportunity to thank City of Bainbridge Island operations and maintenance technician Mike Bidlencik and his crew for removing the large branches and debris following this incident.
They were responsive, timely and thorough.
The families on our lane also facilitated this clean-up by cutting up the massive downed trees, dragging them to the side of the road and dispensing of the fire wood.
The maintenance crew has been very busy and this neighborhood teamwork eased their work load.
One week after the incident everything has been cleaned up.

Gratitude
Donation of six rowing machines aids program
I want to thank Bainbridge Island Fitness for the supremely wonderful gift of six rowing machines it made to Bainbridge Island Rowing.
My son was a part of this wonderful club during his high school years and they were always in need of good training equipment.
This gift from Island Fitness is just what they have needed for years to help train for a beautiful but rigorous sport.
