Voting requires too much personal information | Letters | Nov. 5

Published 4:27 pm Thursday, November 4, 2010

My wife and I just finished our voting process and got to the part where we put together all our envelopes and signatures.

It got me thinking, however, that putting all our personal information (our names and addresses, etc.) as well as a mandatory valid version of our signatures on the outside of these envelopes is pretty stupid.

All it would take is a quick picture with a cellphone camera and someone could begin the process of stealing identities.

Here’s to hoping that every single person between me and the (not gonna vote for that person again) county auditor is an upright, decent, financially secure individual.

Seems like an unreasonable risk to have to take just to get my vote counted. I also hope nobody dislikes me personally in that chain of carriers – they’ll know which envelope to discard.

Let’s go back to envelopes that are anonymous, please.
