Bainbridge voters strongly favored Democrats

With the outcome of all races still unofficial as votes continue to be counted, the majority of Bainbridge’s voters continued their liberal ways during the mid-term election, creating a stark difference between the way Bainbridge voted compared to the rest of Kitsap County on several critical races and ballot measures. Unsurprisingly, Bainbridge strongly favored island residents over challengers in all their races.

Bainbridge voters favored Democrat U.S. Sen. Patty Murray by 71 percent, whereas as Murray barely barely leads Republican Dino Rossi with 49.9 percent of the vote to his 49.3 percent with total Kitsap County voters.

Though the library levy failed in the county by a 57-43 percent amount, Bainbridge voters supported it with a 57-percent “yes” vote.

Island resident and 14-year incumbent Jay Inslee received 73 percent from his hometown compared to Republican challenger James Watkins who garnered 27 percent.

Islander Charlie Wiggins, running against long-standing incumbent Richard Sanders for State Supreme Court Justice Position 6, received 76 percent of the Bainbridge vote whereas Wiggins had 52 percent of total Kitsap County voters.
