BITV closure lessens public access | Letters | Oct. 29 |

I am dismayed to hear of the planned closure of BITV, with virtually no warning and no second take to find more constructive solutions. It is a cop-out to close the doors of an institution that has recorded island life and contributed to the sense of community on Bainbridge like few others have done.

I protest the scapegoat nature of these budget revisions, sacrificing this proactive, well loved cooperative production house that is BITV.

When city finances are back in order and someone comes up with the fantastic idea for a public access media house, the cost to re-establish it will be prohibitive. Surely there must be a more sensible solution than surgically cutting city support.
