Voting is still a citizen’s most precious right | Letters | Oct. 21

With a nephew who just recently turned 18, I recall the energy and excitement I felt when I first earned the right to vote decades ago.

The energy and excitement during the election 2008 season reminded me of the power of people coming together – regardless of which side of the aisle you sit. I am personally reaching out to the young adults in my life to encourage them to keep the momentum from 2008 and vote – wouldn’t it be great if we could “Rock the Vote” each election?

Please take the time to encourage those around you to vote this year. From levy measures to key races locally, in the state and facing the nation, the more of us that vote, the better. Our goal should be to get our children, nieces and nephews, grandchildren and other young people in our lives to remember the power they hold by casting a ballot. Every vote really does make a difference.
