Olsen helped stop car tax proposal | Letters | Oct. 15

Congratulations and thanks to state representative candidate James Olsen on the success of his two-year sign campaign to defeat the City of Bainbridge’s potential car-tab tax. Olsen’s small, black-and-white “STOP COBI ~ PETERS CAR TAX” road signs around Bainbridge alerted the citizenry and pressured the council.

On Oct. 6, the council voted 5-2 against imposing the $20 tax (per vehicle + per year + per forever) as a part of the 2011-12 preliminary budget.

Citizens will be able to keep more of their hard-earned dollars during a bad economy. Olsen’s grass-roots dedication shows his commitment to fiscal conservatism at all levels of government.

Let’s send Olsen to Olympia ( 23rd District representative) to carry on this work on our behalf.
