POLICE BLOTTER

Bainbridge Police reported the following incidents:

Sept. 23

At approximately 9:18 am an island resident reported a laptop computer had been stolen from the home. According to the daughter she was home the previous night and was sitting at the kitchen table using the computer before going to bed.

When she woke up in the morning she couldn’t find the computer. The woman had to go to school so another resident called to report the theft.

Two other laptop computers were sitting nearby and were not stolen. The stolen laptop did not have any identification sensitive information on it.

No suspect information.

Sept. 24

At approximately 1:15 am an officer observed a vehicle with a defective headlamp. When the officer stopped the vehicle the driver pulled over but left his vehicle blocking traffic.

The officer exited the patrol car and contacted the driver and noticed it was the subject of an unwanted person complaint two hours earlier at a local bar. When he spoke with the man at the bar he was clearly intoxicated.

After checking his vehicle and registration the officer advised the man to step out of his car and stand at the rear of the vehicle in order to perform sobriety tests.

He was placed under arrest for DUI. When the officer was searching the man he found a clear plastic bag in his front pocket. In the bag was a small amount of green leafy vegetable matter. The officer said the substance didn’t smell like marijuana but he believed it to be marijuana.

The marijuana and baggie were placed into evidence, the vehicle impounded and the man was booked at the Kitsap county Jail.

Officer was called at 12:45 after receiving a school bus stop violation report from the school district. The officer called the address listed on the vehicle and talked to a woman who explained she was the one driving her vehicle at the time of the incident. She said that she was attempting to deal with her small child when she accidentally drove past the bus with the paddle and flashing lights.

The driver of the bus took down her plate number as did another parent.

The officer advised the woman that the school district had a zero tolerance policy and he gave her a citation.

Sept. 26

At 5:45 pm officers were advised

of a domestic dispute in progress involving a grandfather and his grandson.

When the officer arrived the grandson had left on foot. The grandfather had legal custody of his grandson for years because his parents went out of the picture. The grandson had come storming in the house demanding a cell phone.

The grandfather would not give it to him and the grandson started yelling and screaming about it and ultimately left on foot.

No reported physical violence occurred. The grandson said this had happened before and the grandson would most likely not be home until tomorrow.

End of report.

Sept. 27

A female resident called to report someone had entered her vehicle overnight and taken several items. The woman said she walked to her vehicle and saw it was not closed. She looked inside both her vehicle and the other vehicle at her residence and saw there were items missing.

Her phone charger was missing in her vehicle and the other vehicle was missing the registration.

and insurance card. She said both vehicles were left unlocked.

No suspect information.

At about 3:01 pm an individual called to say he read a report in the newspaper about a person who had their credit card used without their permission. He had also been notified of a similar incident regarding his debit card and an unauthorized charge that came from Missouri. The individual said he uses his card around the island however he had recently used it at the casino. His card had been charged at three different Walgreen stores in Joliet, Illinois and a charge to the Chicago parking authority. Total charges were $400.00 and he had not authorized anyone to used his card.

He was curious if his case was linked to the other story reported in the paper.

At about 12:02 am officers responded to a burglary in progress. Upon arrival the suspect had fled.

The homeowner said they were in the back room when they heard a noise in the house.

He said he walked down the hallway and observed a male in black with a red cap on in his late teens to early 20’s standing by the entryway to the pantry. The male said something and ran into the kitchen area and exited out the kitchen window.

Officers left and responded to the scene for processing.
