Fireworks organizers plan to do it again in 2011 | Letters | July 9

The Bainbridge Island Yacht Club would like to thank the community of Bainbridge Island for another successful 4th of July Fireworks Show over Eagle Harbor.

The 15-minute show, synchronized to music and broadcast over FM radio, went off without a hitch and was enthusiastically received, as evidenced by the cacophony of boat horns at its conclusion.

The fund-raising effort, which began as a small group of volunteers determined to repeat last year’s show, blossomed into a community-wide event supported by local businesses, citizens groups and individuals.

Based on this year’s success, Bainbridge Island Yacht Club expects the show to become an annual tradition, organized by a community-wide coalition of volunteers.

Planning will begin for next’s year’s show very soon.

We would like to acknowledge the generous support of our major sponsors, including the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce.

And finally, a big thanks to community activist Cheryl House, who single-handedly raised a significant share of the funding.
