After a rough start, the annual Hoopfest event, held recently in Paski Gym for participants ages 8 to 18, was a slam dunk success that included 76 three-player teams from Bainbridge Island, Kingston, Poulsbo and West Seattle.
Sponsored by Bainbridge High School Boosters and ACE Hardware, the event included prizes for best costume, best team name and for winners in each bracket. The costume contest enabled participants to see leopard-print spandex, masks, hats and basketballs all on one court.
Boosters thank all those who gave their time so generously to the event. And special thanks to BHS Athletic Director Annette Duvall, Liz LeDorze, Bruce Cohen, Peter and Marianne Lindsey, Greg and Cathleen Wellbrock, Buffy Fling, Fred Pabst, and the “Hoop Groupies” headed by Susan Burris, Denise Philby, Alice Phoenix and Kathy Raustein.
Bainbridge Boosters is a nonprofit, adult volunteer community organization created to support BHS athletic and extra-curricular student activities.
