On behalf of the Bainbridge Island School District board, administrators, teachers and students present and future, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the citizens of Bainbridge Island.
Approval of the school bond on Nov. 3 enables the school district to fulfill many promises to our students and our community, including: to exercise wise stewardship over the precious tax dollars entrusted to us; to provide learning environments that stimulate students and energize teachers; to create facilities that are durable, cost efficient, and gentle on the environment; to engage in open dialogue with the community as bond funds are spent; to continue our long-term commitment for stable, predictable, sustainable taxes as the first priority in the district funding strategy.
Voters who approved this bond demonstrated their trust in the school district to deliver on these promises toward our shared community value of quality education. We are humbled and grateful to our neighbors for their trust and for their incredible generosity, particularly in this worrisome economic time.
We would especially like to thank our campaign team, the Bainbridge Island Public School Supporters. In this election, as in almost every election for the past decade, we have been blessed with the extraordinary leadership of Margaret Powers and Clif McKenzie. Together they assembled a talented team of tireless volunteers who, with fine spirit and whole-hearted dedication, helped communicate our message. School PTOs, especially the group at Wilkes, and the many teachers who volunteered time, also deserve our thanks and appreciation.
The thousands of volunteer hours and the generous funds provided by community members are crucial to the district’s ability to meet fundamental needs in every school, in every classroom throughout the year. Without that support, our district would never be able to maintain a quality educational experience for our students, and we would struggle to preserve the academic leadership that has come to define our community.
Our island has a long, rich legacy of honoring and supporting education. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to carry that legacy forward.
