Please slow down when driving in school zones | Letters | Sept. 25

We are beginning our fourth week of school here, yet apparently, some drivers are unaware that it’s that time of year.

As the crossing guard for students attending Blakely Elementary School, I encounter many drivers each day who drive oblivious to the speed limit, and yes, this does include some parents. In addition, there is road/shoulder construction in front of the school which gives even more reason to SLOW DOWN!

While walking in the crosswalk with her child, a parent last week commented to me, “You have a dangerous job out here!” She is oh so correct.

Tickets in a school zone are expensive; our students are priceless. Please, please slow down and drive the 20 mph as posted.
