Top agenda would be financial mess | Letters | Aug. 14

Now is the time, like never before, to elect council members who will approach their jobs with an open mind, a desire to move forward, a personality that will bring civility and the skill to work in a cooperative manner with other council members, the staff and the community.
It is time to stop the name calling, the negative atmosphere, and being mired down in the past.
I am looking for candidates whose only agenda is to sort out the financial mess we are in and who will act in the best interest of the community. In return I will give up my agenda for now.
We need to come together to have a real dialogue, not a shouting match, about the Shoreline Master Plan, affordable housing, water issues, Winslow Way, repairing broken and inadequate infrastructure, social services, the arts, open space, non motorized transportation and myriad other worthy topics.
I believe Tim Jacobsen is a candidate who can help us have those discussions.
Tim has proven his leadership and cooperative skills in the past with island groups and also in other communities where he has lived.
Don’t forget to vote. Ballots must be postmarked by Aug. 18. And if you live in the South Ward please vote for Tim Jacobsen.
