Owners need to be more responsible in parks | Letters | Feb. 6

Residents of Bainbridge and visitors alike are fortunate to have the opportunity to enjoy frequenting the many parks and open spaces on our Island.
My dog and I love to walk around Battle Point Park, as do many other families and dog owners.
The parks department has made a good effort to make the cleanup easier by providing us with bags and trash cans for disposal of this waste (although the availability, quality and ease of use of the current black bags is sometimes questionable).
Most of us are conscientious about cleaning up after our dogs. Recently, though, the park seems to have had an increase of owners who are choosing to not clean up the manure. We are all stewards of our beautiful Bainbridge Island and, ultimately, the Earth.
By practicing responsible pet ownership we not only show respect for others, we are giving our pets, children and ourselves a clean and healthy place to live.
Please clean up your pet’s waste.
Then you can really enjoy your walk around the park!
