Tight trio rebounds island baseball squad

After suffering two straight losses, which marred an otherwise so-far flawless season, the Bainbridge High varsity boys baseball team came roaring back, scoring a trio of consecutive wins last week.

The losses came on March 27 and March 29, against Seattle Prep and Eastside Catholic, respectively. Since then the Spartans have ripped their way through Cleveland, Roosevelt, and West Seattle, bumping their overall season record to 9-2 (6-2 in conference). They are ranked third in the Metro standings, tied with Eastside Catholic.

Lakeside remains in the top spot (8-0 in conference), with O’Dea and Ballard (both 7-1) tied for second place.

The fresh Spartan run got going on April 1 — and it was no joke.

Cleveland found themselves on the wrong side of a 10-0 shutout that day, as the island squad trekked to Seattle searching for a comeback.

Then, on April 2, Bainbridge again came back big with an 8-1 win against Roosevelt, this time at home.

Finally, on April 4, the squad closed a successful week with an away 11-3 win against West Seattle.

The Spartans played at home on Monday and Wednesday, hit the road Friday, and will again play back on Bainbridge at 4 p.m. Monday, April 15, against Rainier Beach.
