Bainbridge High starts off the spring season with its first battles in girls and boys lacrosse this week.

The Spartan junior varsity lacrosse team will be the first to see action, with a game against North Kitsap at 5 p.m. Monday, March 10 at Strawberry Field in Poulsbo.

The JV girls team plays again on Tuesday against Kennedy Catholic at home. Game time is 6 p.m.

Following the JV game, the girls varsity lacrosse team will also play host to Kennedy. Varsity action gets under way at 6 p.m.

The Spartans finished as semi-finalists last year at state and a 11-3-1 record. Kennedy ended last year’s campaign at 7-6-0 and finished sixth in the Alki Conference.

The Bainbridge High boys varsity team will begin their new season the hard way: on the road with a matchup against two-time defending state champs Bellevue High.

The Wolverines (22-2-0 last year) are currently ranked No. 49 in the nation by StudentSports.com in its “Fab 50″ pre-season poll. Bellevue will be aided this season by senior attack Hank Bethke, a three-time All-State selection and an Ohio State commit in NCAA Division 1 lacrosse, as well as senior midfielder Eric Haehl, a 2014 Pre-Season All-Conference First Team selection and a future NCAA D1 lacrosse player for Richmond.

Friday’s matchup starts at 8 p.m. at Bellevue High.

The BHS JV girls lacrosse team will also see action Saturday, March 15 against North Olympic at Graywolf Elementary in Sequim. Game time is 10:30 a.m.

Bainbridge High will host a varsity track jamboree at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15 with athletes from Kingston, North Kitsap and Olympic.
