Cross Country

The girls cross country team won its last meet regular-season meet at Woodland Park Thursday. Senior Emily Barreca led with a time of 20 minutes, 12 seconds, followed by Isabel Ferguson (20:34) and Annie Taylor (20:39) in third and forth place, respectively.

The boys team took forth place behind Seattle Prep, Lakeside and Ingraham. Willie Wenzlau was the Spartans’ top performer with a time of 18:13.

Both teams will compete in the Metro Championship at Woodland next Thursday.

Golf

Junior Carl Johnson shot a 36-hole total of 144 to lead the boys team to the Metro League Championship Thursday. Bainbridge edged Seattle Prep 407 to 403 in the two-day tournament at Jefferson park and West Seattle. Senior Jack Seidl and junior Bobby Griffin tied for seventh, shooting 151.

The boys team will compete at the district tournament at Harbour Pointe Monday. Twenty-two of the 48 finishers will continue to the state playoffs.

In her forth appearance at the Metro tournament, senior Anna Bourland shot 151, earning the second-place medal. The Spartans scored 421 points, taking second place behind Holy Names. The girls team will resume play at the district tournament in May.

Halfway through the tournament, Bainbridge’s top performers all shot 73, or three over par, at Jefferson park. Anna Bourland was tied for the lead with Holy Names’ Kristin Tan, and Carl Jonson and Kyle Schneider led the boys team.

Soccer

Coming off a pair of home victories last week, the Spartans dropped an away match 2-0 at Lakeside Tuesday.

The Spartans took advantage of an early lead to defeat Eastside Catholic 4-2 Thursday. Emma Vukic scored the Spartans’ first goal in the 14th minute, then opened the second half with another goal.

The Crusaders answered with a goal in the 66th minute, but Hallie Swan and Morgan Moniz added two more scores to give the Spartans the 4-1 lead.

Kristen Standish scored Eastside’s final goal in the 77th minute.

Volleyball

Playing on the road this week, the Spartans were defeated by Seattle Prep 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 Monday.

Despite carrying a full roster for the first time this season, the Spartans were unable to pull off the upset and fell to Eastside Catholic 25-20, 25-14, 25-19 Wednesday.

Water Polo

The Spartans fell to the Pacific Northwest United Water Polo Club 10-4 Friday. Drivers Ian Layton, Lex Burgin and Mickey Keefe drew ejections.

Bainbridge faces Kentridge at the Edgebrook Club tonight.
