Spartans start lacrosse playoffs with win

The Bainbridge Spartans cruised through their first round of post-season play in girls varsity lacrosse, and took Woodinville to the woodshed with a 18-5 win at Bainbridge High’s Memorial Stadium.

It was the second time Bainbridge has played Woodinville this year, and Tuesday’s matchup was even more one-sided than the Falcons’ loss to Big Blue in March.

A balanced Bainbridge offense spelled doom for Woodinville, and eight Spartans scored in the game.

Three Spartans scored four goals each: Eleanor Collins, Kendall Havill and Eleanor King.

Collins added an assist and two ground balls, while Havill dished five assists and also contributed three ground balls and won five draws.

King had two ground balls, as well.

Bella Jackson scored twice on the Falcons, and also scooped up two ground balls and had two caused turnovers.

Claire Friers, Lauren Pujolar, Abby Reibsamen and Madeleine Sherry scored one goal each.

Woodinville made just 11 shots on the net, and Bainbridge goalie Thuy Lan Ortiz finished the game with six saves.

The win at home advanced the Spartans to the second round of the playoffs and a Thursday date with Bellevue.
